Care Instructions: Caring for Your NamahShri Saree

Your NamahShri saree is crafted to be cherished and worn for years. A little care will help preserve its colour, texture, zari and graceful drape.

* We recommend professional dry cleaning for the best care. * Avoid machine washing, soaking or vigorous rubbing. * If hand washing is specifically recommended for your saree, use cold water and a very mild detergent, and handle it gently.

✦ Drying

* Do not wring or twist the saree. * Keep it away from direct, harsh sunlight while drying. * Allow it to dry naturally in a cool, shaded area.

✦ Ironing

* Iron on a low to medium heat setting suitable for silk fabrics. * Always iron the saree from the reverse side. * Place a thin cotton cloth between the iron and the saree, especially over zari or delicate woven areas.

✦ Storing

* Fold your saree neatly and refold it occasionally to avoid permanent creases. * Store it in a clean, dry place away from moisture and direct sunlight. * For zari sarees, wrapping them in a soft muslin/cotton cloth before storing can help protect the fabric. * Avoid storing sarees in plastic covers for long periods, as the fabric needs to breathe.

* Handle zari and decorative woven areas gently. * Avoid contact with perfumes, deodorants, cosmetics and other chemicals. * Do not rub or scrub zari portions.
